Biography
Amy Griffith Colley is an accomplished visual artist who specializes in oil painting and collage work. Her work is collected throughout the United States as well as internationally. She graduated with a BFA in Painting in 1984 from Swain School of Design. Swain has a notable faculty that created a group of painting graduates who, through Professor David Loeffler Smith, directly trace their lineage back to abstract expressionist Hans Hofmann. The “push and pull,” which Hofmann described as interdependent relationships between form, color, and space has directly influenced Ms. Colley’s work and artistic approach. This same artistic lineage line drew Amy to attend the Parsons School of Design where she received an MFA in Painting in 1986.
Amy and her husband Stephen Colley currently reside in Tunkhannock in the beautiful Endless Mountains in Pennsylvania where she draws much influence for her work.
